About

Works In Progress is an exhibition series with a mission to amplify, archive and create dialogue around the Bay Area craft & design community.

Curated by Kate Greenberg and Kelley Perumbeti, each iteration brings together furniture and objects through a lens of storytelling and a considered environment. Non-traditional spaces are transformed into backdrops by which to understand contemporary design, and into temporary watering holes for critical conversation.

In tandem to the installations, they produce a companion book and host public dialogues about concept, context, and process, advocating that the experience of the people behind each work is equally important to the work itself.

Kate Greenberg is a designer and artist specializing in furniture, lighting, and functional objects. Her work centers around the origins of the home, the emotional impact of space, and the subliminal influence of our built world. In opposition to standardized ideas of furniture, she presents an alternative approach to what makes a space intimate and comfortable. Her work has been exhibited across the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, and Milan.

Kelley Perumbeti is the co-founder of San Francisco and Brooklyn-based studio Office of Tangible Space. Kelley, along with the work of her studio, prioritizes an exploration of design as a conduit for strengthening connection and community. Her firm’s interdisciplinary approach combines architecture, interiors, furniture and curation, with projects ranging from the object-scale to the urban. The studio aims to foster a desire to stay and notice by creating unexpected moments of interaction. Kelley graduated with an MFA in Interior Design from Parsons School of Design in NYC.
